In erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, the TDP had good standing in Telangana region. But Telangana people who wanted the state to be divided started hating Chandra Babu Naidu and Telugu Desam Party.
TRS further fuelled these sentiments and pushed the thought that Chandra Babu Naidu was the reason behind Telangana’s backwardness and this was a death knell for the party in the region.
Since bifurcation, the party base has weakened considerably and almost all the leaders have slowly deserted the party.
Right now, the situation is such that it is directionless with no particular agenda in the newly formed state.
Barring a few leaders like Revanth Reddy and Errabelli Dayakar Rao, there are barely any senior leaders left with the party. Now, talk in political circles is that there is a strong reason for these chosen few to remain with the party.
In Telangana, there would be no scope for Andhra leaders to lead even in distant future. Be it TRS or some other party, any party to do with Chandra Babu will not come into power in Telangana.
If TRS is voted out of power in future, then Congress is the next alternative for people. There are also BJP and Left parties.
Now, the talk is that leaders like Revanth Reddy and Dayakar Rao are planning to severe their ties with Chandra Babu and float a new party called Telangana TDP. They hope to give good competition to TRS by doing so.
Apparently, the party will also change its colour and style of functioning very soon. It’s only a matter of time before this tamasha is revealed to people, it is being rumoured.
