Usually, producers arrange caravans for star heroes when they go to outdoor locations for film shoots. Of late, producers are forced to hire caravans for indoor shoots in studios as well.
As we all know, almost all the top stars in Tollywood have their own vanity vans and they are enjoying the benefits and comforts of the same. The vans are also remodeled to suit their tastes.
All the heroes who own caravans will use their own vehicles. And none demand extra pay in form of rent for their own vanity vans.
However, one star hero in our own industry is an exception to this. This superstar has a lavish caravan which is equipped with all facilities.
Surprisingly, this top star bluntly charges fixed rents and other expenses for using his own caravan from producers.
The star hero had bought the caravan six years back and he did four films in all these years. Let’s assume he had given 60 call sheets for each film and had used caravan for 40 days. Overall, he would have used the caravan for 160 days.
If the rent for the caravan per day is Rs 5,000, then the total amount for 160 days is Rs 8 lakh. Driver wages, diesel expenses, etc, will be paid by the producer which anyways.
It may not be mentioned specially that salaries of personal staff of hero and heroine will also be paid by the producer.
Actually, the Rs 8 lakh the hero earned with rents for his caravan for six years is almost peanuts compared to the remuneration he charges for a single film.
His thriftiness is a big shock to producers who are not bothered about these small additional expenses as they feel it is a great opportunity to work with the top star. But they have now have a bad opinion on him for his manners, though they don’t express it openly.
