Social Media Is Fifth Estate!

Social Media Is Fifth Estate!

If mainstream media is the fourth estate, then social media is fifth estate. It is as powerful as the other four – Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and Press. So, the other four estates cannot control the fifth estate, which is equally powerful.

This was the explanation given by YSR Congress Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu. “It is not correct on the part of the legislature or the executive to set controls on social media which has turned as fifth estate,” he said.

Ambati said he was not saying that social media will post everything right but said people were of the view that they could reflect more reality than coverage by the fourth estate lately. Hence he said that some posts turn viral.

Further Ambati said that Lokesh is unfit for a minister to hold three departments and advised TDP circles to train the Young Leader on public speaking skills.

Ambati asked why Ravi Kiran had not been taken to court before releasing him. He said that instead of arrests and threats like focus should be on Lokesh and his skills.
