Despite constant claims that they are in a delicate situation as regards finances, both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are vying with each other to present budgets amounting to about Rs 1 lakh crores.
While Telangana government is proposing to present a budget of about Rs 1 lakh crores, neighbouring Andhra Pradesh is looking at adding another Rs 14000 to 15000 crores to the Rs 1 lakh crores.
Right now, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu is said to be working on AP budget. While he presented a budget of Rs 1.10 lakh crores, this time, he is working towards presenting Rs 1.15 lakh crores for this fiscal year.
So, technically speaking, while claiming that Andhra Pradesh government does not have enough funds, it is looking at increasing the budget amount by nearly 20 per cent.
Now, analysts are wondering if this is mere number game by Andhra Pradesh government or if it has strengthened its financial position.
