Six-Year Ban On Lagadapati?

Six-Year Ban On Lagadapati?

It looks like serious action is imminent against Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal; it might even be a six-year ban on him preventing him from contesting elections.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar appointed a committee to inquire into the ugly incidents that took place in the House on Thursday and suggest stringent action against the MPs who had resorted to extreme acts.

It would also recommend steps to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the coming days.

According to sources, the Speaker is contemplating stringent punishment to Lagadapati who used pepper spray and also to Modugula Venugopal Reddy, who uprooted the mike and attacked colleagues. It might include a six-year ban on them from contesting elections.

Meanwhile, Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Friday requested the Lok Sabha Speaker to impose a life ban against Lagadapati who acted violently in the Lok Sabha.

He said actions of Seemandhra MPs, especially Lagadapati, were highly unpardonable.

He demanded that stern action like life ban should be imposed on the MPs debarring them from contesting elections in future.
