Singh's Exit Depresses Reddy Bros!

Singh's Exit Depresses Reddy Bros!

The sacking of senior Congress leader and AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh from the post of party in-charge of Telangana affairs has brought a lot of relief to several Telangana Congress leaders, as they feel his lopsided policies and wrong strategies had led to the debacle of the Congress party in 2014 elections.

However, Singh’s exist has also caused heartburn to a few Congress leaders, particularly Komatireddy brothers – Rajagopal Reddy and Venkat Reddy, besides of course veterans like K Jana Reddy.

Especially for Komatireddy brothers, Singh’s sacking came as a rude shock as he had promised to make Rajagopal Reddy as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president.

When Komatireddy brothers wanted to defect to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, Singh stopped them and assured that the party high command would take care of their interests.

He told them that either of the brothers would be projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the Congress party in the next elections. Apparently, the brothers greased the palms of Singh to a large extent.

Now, with Singh being shunted out and replaced by another senior leader R C Khuntia, the Komatireddy brothers are depressed.

What made them angry was the statement of Khuntia that existing PCC chief Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy would lead the party in 2019 elections as well and his hint that Reddy might be the chief ministerial candidate.

“Who the hell is Khuntia to decide the PCC chief? Only Sonia Gandhi or Rahul can talk about continuing or replacing the PCC chief. In fact, Rahul Gandhi had promised that young leaders would be made the PCC chief. As such, we don’t give much credence to Khuntia’s statement,” Venkat Reddy said.
