Secretariat Water Leaks: Who's The Culprit?

Last time when there was a water leakage in the newly-built Secretariat buildings, people did not take it very seriously because it is quite common that minor defect would surface in any new constructions.

They did not even show interest in the blame game between the ruling Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress party.

They thought leakages would be rectified by the builders. However, thee leakages that happened in the last two days created doubts among the people that there are efinitely some grave irregularities in the constructions.

One wonders how reputed construction companies like L&T and Shapooji Pallonji indulging in such poor quality of construction even after charging an exorbitant construction cost.

The same company constructed chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence, which is perfect and not leaking. It does mean they took it easy with the construction of Secretariat buildings and hence, are exposed.

Surprisingly, minister for urban development P Narayana defends the quality of construction.

Even after two years, he says such minor flaws are very common in any new building. And he says the construction firms will do the repair at their own expense.

But the question is should the Secretariat staff continue to suffer because of the company’s negligence? Should the companies not be blacklisted?
