Scared Rayapati Sitting At Home

Scared Rayapati Sitting At Home

After the Congress party ripped out the hearts of the Andhras by dividing the State in 2014, Rayapati Samba Siva Rao, Congress MP realised he could no longer enjoy the fun in that party and climbed the ‘yellow bus’.

He was elected as MP on TDP ticket from Narasaraopeta. Initially, things were fine and Rayapati’s company Transtroy bagged the prestigious and lucrative contract for Polavaram. But with no kind of experience in infrastructure, Transtroy couldn’t handle the works and started lagging behind badly in execution.

This created immense pressure on Chandrababu who could not ask the Centre for funds for unfinished works.

What’s more, citing inflation and bad market conditions, Rayapati jacked up the prices of the contract works to astronomical levels.

Things came to such a pass that Rayapati in the name of Polavaram borrowed thousands of crores from banks and has comfortably defaulted on them.

Polavaram works have come to a complete halt and Naidu cleverly requested for a change of contractor while all along, this scam had been the brainchild of Naidu and Rayapati together.

When he was Congress MP, Rayapati had frequently attended ‘kamma picnics’. There is nothing wrong in this, but the picnics were officially organised by the TDP.

Now, Naidu must have personally got hundreds of crores in kickbacks from Rayapati and the losers as usual in India are the banks i.e tax-payers.

Since Rayapati was an MP and TDP is in the NDA, the scam would have worked beautifully. But with the people of Andhra Pradesh expressing fury over the special status issue, the TDP has been forced to quit the NDA. Now, Rayapati is scared and nowhere to be seen.

He hasn’t come out with a single statement against the BJP on the special status issue. Why

The moment he opens his mouth, the BJP will let loose the banks on him and Rayapati will have to answer for the Polavaram scam and in all likelihood, will have to go to jail. That’s why he is sitting at home without making any noise.

The explanation being given by the Rayapati group is that he had recently undergone knee surgery and is therefore taking rest.

Fine, but surely, he can talk to the media at his home, can’t he? Especially, on such an important issue like special status?
