Sai Reddy notice goes to privileges panel!

A privilege motion moved by YSR Congress party’s Rajya Sabha member V Vijaysai Reddy on the police high-handedness at Visakhapatnam airport was referred to the Privilege Committee by the Chairman of the Upper House.

An official communique from the Rajya Sabha Chairman’s office has said that the motion was referred to the Privileges Committee for further proceedings to look into the breach of privileges.

According to a party release, Vijaysai Reddy had complained and subsequently moved the privilege motion against the police for harassment and highhandedness on January 26, 2017 when YSR Congress Party President YS Jaganmohan Reddy along with other MPs including Sai Reddy landed in Visakhaptanam airport to hold a candle light rally protest demanding Special Category Status (SCS).

The police prevented Jagan and the MPs from leaving the airport into the city and argued with them.

Blaming police officials’ highhanded behaviour, Jagan along with other party leaders squatted on the airport’s tarmac demanding that they be allowed to move out of the airport.

However, police officials including Task Force ACP Sri Chitti Babu, Sub-Inspector of Police Sri Murali along with their men pushed and harassed the leaders and forcefully put on the flight back to Hyderabad.

The issue was brought to the notice of Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and a privilege motion was moved on January 31, 2017, which was accepted.
