Saffronisation And Italisation

Saffronisation And Italisation

Rohit Vemula had mentioned in his suicide letter, his disenchantment with student organizations like SFI and Ambedkar Students Federation saying that they were self-centered.

University of Hyderabad (UoH) students' union general secretary Raju Kumar Sahu, who had been in the forefront of the movement against university authorities after Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide, sprung a surprise on Wednesday by quitting Students' Federation of India, saying its politics was `opportunistic'.

Citing irreconcilable differences with the SFI over the manner in which the agitation was being carried out on the campus after Vemula's suicide, Sahu said he was quitting because of the “SFI's false principles”.

The whole furor over Rohit Vemula’s suicide was nothing but a Congress-backed agitation. There have been eight students who have committed suicide in the last nine years at UoH. All of them were Dalits.

Was there a single agitation regarding those deaths? Was there a single media person to cover the reason behind their deaths? No! Why? It was the Congress government at the Centre. But, in the NDA rule, Rohit Vemula commits suicide and the media goes overboard and Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal come rushing down with calls for the government to resign and protesting against the saffronisation of educational institutions.

If Rohit Vemula’ death was due to saffronisation, then what were the eight deaths during the UPA rule, due to?  Italisation of educational institutions?
