Rayalaseema Should Not Be Given Cause For Complaint

With the focus of the new State of Andhra Pradesh at the moment concentrated entirely on the new capital region, there is a possibility of a feeling of neglect that might arise in the remaining regions, especially Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra.

No politicians from these parts tomorrow should be given an opportunity to whip up REGIONAL hatred in the name of development. The onus is on the TDP government to ensure that this does not happen.

Bifurcation was the worst kind of injustice perpetrated on the people of Andhra Pradesh. Yet, at the same time it can also be construed as a blessing in disguise.

Free from the nuisance of Telangana politicians, the Telugu people can now work towards the development of their regions and create an enduring legacy for the future generations. This is possible only if development happens across all regions and not at the expense of one region or the other.

Kurnool which lost out in the race for the new capital now has reason to cheer! The state government has proposed to set up it’s first-ever super-specialty cancer hospital and research institute in Kurnool at a cost of Rs 120 crore. The proposed hospital will have facilities on par with those of MNJ cancer institute in Hyderabad.

Post-bifurcation, AP is left with no major cancer hospital as all the existing super-specialty cancer hospitals went into Telangana's kitty. The state government had earlier proposed to set up a super-specialty cancer hospital at China Kakani between Vijayawada and Guntur. But with the AIIMS coming up in the region, the government has changed its plans.

The government is also planning to set up two minor cancer hospitals at a cost of Rs 40 crore each in Tirupati and Nellore.

Sources said the Centre has agreed to fund the regional cancer center, while declining to give money for the minor ones.

The TATA group is setting up a cancer institute in Visakhapatnam. More such prominent and necessary institutions need to be spread across the State instead of being centralized.

The people in travelling to all four corners of the State will not only integrate better but also contribute to the economic activities of the region.
