Rajaiah Denied Dignified Exit

A day after former Deputy Chief Minister Rajaiah was dismissed from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi cabinet, rumblings have begun in the party circles, especially the Dalit sections.

Although the Chief Minister has every right to induct or remove a minister from his cabinet, the way Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had sacked Rajaiah is being described as highly objectionable.

“Had KCR asked Rajaiah to quit pending inquiry into the charges of corruption against him or into his negligence in the outbreak of swine flu epidemic, the minister would have resigned. But the Chief Minister chose to sack him, rather than asking him to quit, which is nothing but big humiliation,” a TRS leader said.

He pointed out that the Chief Minister had neither framed charges nor given an opportunity to Rajaiah to explain his version. The sudden dismissal was against the spirit of democracy and reflects the dictatorial attitude of KCR, he alleged.

“Rajaiah himself claimed that he treats KCR as his father and he himself would have resigned if asked. But instead of ensuring a dignified exit, he was humiliated in public through sudden dismissal,” the leader said.
