It appears former Union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Daggubati Purandeshwari has been entrusted with the task of weakening the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh wherever it is possible.
One does not know whether the party high command has given her any such instructions or the local BJP leaders who are not happy with the alliance with the TDP have asked her, but Purandeshwari is hell bent on destabilising the TDP by luring key leaders into the BJP.
She is said to be meeting disgruntled TDP leaders secretly and wooing them into the BJP.
As part of that Purandeshwari played a key role in bringing senior TDP leader from Prakasam and former district cooperative central bank chairman Edara Hari Babu into the TDP.
Hari Babu, who resigned from the DCCB chairman post some time ago because of differences with the local TDP leaders, are looking for an opportunity to bid good bye to the TDP.
Taking advantage of it, Purandeshwari trapped him and invited him to join the BJP.
Only recently, Purandeshwari played a key role in bringing senior leader C K Babu of Chittoor into the BJP. Though he has a criminal record, he can be of a big challenge to the TDP in Chandrababu Naidu’s home district.
