Pro-TDP Media Has Been Saved By Them

The TDP in Telangana is almost on the brink of being wiped out with senior leaders like Talasani and Teegala walking out of the party.

But the media houses which are pro TDP have been in a fix wondering how best to cover the issue. And luckily for them, the exit of Kanna Lakshmi Narayana and Konatala Ramakrishnulu has come at the perfect time.

Instead of focusing on senior TDP leaders quitting the party, these publications are now gung-ho about the exit of Kanna from Congress and Konatala from YSRCP. On the other hand, senior Telangana TDP leaders leaving the party has been pushed to one little space in one corner.

In fact, Konatala did not contest during the recent elections. His popularity could not help his brother or his followers win elections. Even in 2009, Konatala lost in the elections. The only time he won was when there was strong Congress wave way back in 2004. Actually, Konatala hoped to get a Rajya Sabha seat if YSRCP won the polls during 2014 general elections. Since that did not happen, he realized his chances of getting into RS are very bleak. Though he appears soft, his influence in the party is not very strong. Despite this background, pro TDP media houses allotted quarter page of write-up regarding his exit from YSRCP.

Meanwhile, Teegala Krishna Reddy has long been associated with TDP. In the past, he served as the mayor of Hyderabad and later became an MLA. After playing an important role in the party, he rose to represent a constituency. But when such a senior person quit the party, the said media house did not see the need to give it appropriate coverage. So is the case with Talasani.

If leaders who are pivotal to the party quit the party and Babu who is now heading Seemandhra is unable to get them to stay, then it is not Babu’s failure. However, when people like Konatala quit YSRCP, then it is the failure of its leader YS Jagan.

So is media’s analysis and reporting.
