YSR Congress party camp is in upbeat mood with the taking of popular political strategist Prashant Kishor on the board for guiding the party to victory in the next elections, but the ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders are trying to put up a brave front, as if they are not unduly worried over Prashant’s help to the YSRC.
Senior TDP leader and irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheshwar Rao is of the view that Prashant would only be an iron leg, rather than an asset for the YSR Congress party.
“It is ironic that the YSRC is using the services of political strategist Prashant to help the party in 2019 elections. But his strategies won’t work in Andhra Pradesh, because they are all outdated,” he said.
Devineni pointed out that the strategies of Prashant had worked only once – for Narendra Modi and subsequently, everybody could understand his tricks.
He was of no help to Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
“The same outcome would be repeated in Andhra Pradesh too,” he said.
He said Jagan would not gain anything from the padayatra on the advice of Prashant.
“May be, Jagan is of the view that he can invoke his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s magic during padayatra. But his father’s image did not come to his rescue in 2014 and the people of state made him to sit in the Opposition,” he said.
In the past, YSR’s role was suspected behind the communal riots in Hyderabad and now Jagan is playing the same strategy to create unrest in AP, the minister said.
