Political Buzz: Who Called KCR A 'Paagal?'

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is well-known for his articulation.

He knows how to attract the audiences with wonderful anecdotes and witty comments.

On Sunday, KCR attended the Kavi Sammelan programme being organised at Andhra Saraswata Parishad hall in Abids as part of the World Telugu Conference.

While describing how such conferences would enhance the prestige of a state, he explained his penchant for Telugu literature and how he used to go several kilometres to participate in such literary meetings.

Recalling his experience during the first World Telugu Conference held in Hyderabad in 1975, KCR said he had come to the city as one of the delegates along with his friend Omkar with the support of his guru Tangirala Subrahmanya Sarma.

“I had a small bag comprising clothes and a big suitcase with full of books. By the time we reached Hyderabad, it was 11.30. We were supposed to stay at Methodist School at Abids.

As we reached Abids, some policemen stopped us and started interrogating us. We told them that we had come to attend the World Telugu conference,” he said.

The policemen made KCR to sit on the road and asked him to show what there was in his suitcase.

“I opened the suitcase and they were surprised to find that it had nothing but only books. A police official just looked at me and called me a “paagal” (foolish fellow),” the chief minister said, amidst laughter from the audience.
