It has been quite some time since we heard about yesteryears’ glamorous heroine-turned-politician Vijayashanti.
The former MP who represented Telangana Rashtra Samithi till 2014 went into a virtual political oblivion, after her defeat in the last elections on behalf of the Congress ticket.
Now, Vijayashanti is being heard in political and media circles again, besides Tollywood.
According to sources, Vijayashanti underwent a serious physical training to get her body trim and slim on the lines of megastar Chiranjeevi who underwent a drastic makeover to stage a comeback into films.
Vijayashanti, too, is contemplating returning to films, of course not as heroine but some serious character roles.
At the same time, there is a talk that Vijayashanti might stage a comeback into politics. It is learnt the Telugu Desam Party leaders have approached her so as to rope her into the party, which requires some powerful leaders to take on YSR Congress party.
She still has the charisma to attract voters with her powerful speeches.
However, there is a problem. Vijayashanti is a hardcore Telangana leader and during the peak of the separate Telangana movement, she used to attack Andhra leaders. So, it is doubtful whether she can draw any voters.
If at all she comes into the TDP, she might prefer to stay in Telangana, but the TDP has no place in this state.
And even if she joins the TDP, she may not gel with leaders like Revanth Reddy, who wants to dominate the party. And she doesn’t want to play a second fiddle to Revanth!
