PM, Prez are mere rubber stamps

Telugu Desam Party senior leader Pavvavula Keshav on Tuesday strongly criticized the luncheon politics of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has invited BJP top brass for a luncheon meeting on Wednesday to consider ways to resolve the deadlock in parliament on the Telangana bill.

Keshav said in spite of rejection of the bill by the state assembly, the Congress party is bent upon moving the bill in parliament, which is not tenable.

It was a mockery of democracy that Italy queen somehow wanted to put through the bill in the parliament and the President and Prime Minister have become rubber stamps, he alleged.

Telugu people had hopes on the President that he would protect their interest. But the President, by giving his consent to the bill, had insulted their feeling, he said.

The TDP leader called upon Samikyandhra supporters to be united to fight for keeping the State united.
