Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan was the star of the day in Vijayawada, at least for a day on Friday.
Pawan Kalyan led a massive rally of thousands of followers and of course, the Left party workers, who can come in millions with a single call, in Vijayawada in support of the demand for special category status to the state, besides implementation of all the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act 2014.
Pawan took out the padayatra from Benz Circle to Ramavarappadu ring road. The three-km long stretch was painted red, with the actor wearing a red-coloured headband, walked along with thousands of workers.
Traffic came to a standstill on the national highway, though the police had given him permission to walk only on the service road.
Earlier, he addressed the gathering and said the rally would highlight the people’s anger at the Centre for denying the special status.
He accused both the TDP and the YSR Congress party of lacking sincerity in their agitation.
“The people are not carried away by their dramas. They want the leaders with commitment,” Pawan said.
Compared to Pawan’s rally, TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s cycle rally did not get much attention from the people. The lack of crowds at Naidu’s rally was clearly evident!
