The shooting of NTR, the biopic of legendary actor and former chief minister N T Rama Rao, has been going on at a brisk pace.
Director Krish and hero Nandamuri Balakrishna have finalised the actors for almost all the prominent characters in the biopic.
For the character of present Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, they picked up Rana Daggubati and the shooting of his part is already going on.
In fact, during the shooting of Bahubali itself, there was a talk that Rana’s Bhallala Deva character has close resemblances with that of Chandrababu Naidu. So now, the talk has come true. Rana is donning the role of Naidu, the younger son-in-law.
But what about the elder son-in-law Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao, who also played a key role in the life of N T Rama Rao.
As a matter of fact, Daggubati came into NTR’s life much before Naidu, so his role cannot be just ignored. He even made a film with NTR and had been there right from day one of the foundation of the TDP.
He was more familiar to the TDP activists as Doctor Garu, than Naidu. Even in the last days of NTR in the aftermath of back-stabbing by Naidu, Daggubati was with NTR. So, naturally, he has an important role in NTR’s life.
So, who will play the role of Daggubati in the biopic? Will the actor be as popular as Rana?
But, it turned to be an insignificant character. Reports say Daggubati’s character will be played by Dr Bharat Reddy, who plays smaller character roles in films.
May be, Bharat Reddy is a talented artiste and he resembles Daggubati in facial features. But selection of such a new and small time actor for an important character like Daggubati is something unpalatable.
Just because some upcoming actor resembles Naidu, would he have been picked up for Naidu’s character?
It clearly shows Daggubati character has hardly any importance in the NTR biopic. And it will strengthen the rumours that it is Chandrababu Naidu, who has been directing the film from behind the screen!
