No pre-poll alliance between BJP-YSRC?

No pre-poll alliance between BJP-YSRC?

The YSR Congress party would not have any alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party or for that matter any other party in Andhra Pradesh during the 2019 assembly and parliamentary elections.

This has been the indication from both the YSRC and also the BJP, amidst allegations from the Telugu Desam Party that both the parties have a secret understanding and the YSRC has become a puppet in the hands of the BJP.

While YSRC MP V Vijay Sai Reddy said the party would fight it alone in the next elections, BJP leader Somu Veerraju also pooh-poohed the TDP charge that the BJP would enter into an electoral alliance with the YSRCP.

“Jagan meeting Prime Minister Modi does not mean there is an electoral alliance. As far as I know, there won’t be any alliance with the YSRCP. He said the BJP is growing stronger by each passing day in every state,” Veerraju said.

Till the other day, there was a talk that the BJP would make some major announcements with regard to special category status, railway zone and other issues just before the elections so that the YSRC would forge an alliance with it.

It is believed that the YSRC had offered to give a dozen MP seats and 15 MLA seats to the BJP as part of the alliance.

But now, the chances of a pre-poll alliance between the YSRC and the BJP appear to be remote, as YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy does not want to give any opportunity to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to corner the minority vote bank.

“If required, there could be a post-poll alliance,” a party source said.
