No permanent venue yet for I-Day in AP!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu often boasts of constructing the world-class capital city Amaravati.

Yet, he could not find a permanent place for hoisting the national flag during the Independence Day celebrations and conduct a ceremonial parade.

The Naidu government on Tuesday announced that the Independence Day celebrations would be held this year at Tirupati.

For the last three years after the bifurcation of erstwhile combined Andhra Pradesh, the state government has been choosing different cities to celebrate the Independence Day every year.

Last year, the celebrations were held in Anantapur. Earlier, they were held in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

The venue is yet to be decided, following which security personnel will be taking over the arrangements in terms of security measures.

Also, a committee is likely to be appointed to look into the preparations of the event, official sources said.
