Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's repeated pleas to the banks to deliver more new currency to the state appears to have been met little success with bankers making only meagre allocations of new notes for his native Chittoor district.
The district administration had sought a one-time allocation of Rs 1,000 crore in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 100, but only Rs 109 crore was allotted to the district on Tuesday following which officials announced that banks in the district could disburse this amount on Wednesday.
People across the district, including the temple town, are having a tough time ever since demonetization with limited supply of currency at banks.
