NDA will give SCS, but without Naidu!

The National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre might consider granting of special category status to Andhra Pradesh.

But there is one condition: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu should step down from the post of the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

“The Centre is ready to grant the special category status. But it may not be possible give it as long as Naidu is in power in the state,” BJP MLC Somu Veerraju said on Saturday.

Reason: The Centre suspects that the Naidu administration might not fully utilise the benefits of the special category status and might indulge in massive corruption.

Veerraju lashed out at Naidu for the rampant corruption in administration from village level to the top.

“The records show that AP is the most corrupt state in the country and there is no accountability to anybody in the administration. Naidu has absolutely no control over his MLAs indulging in corrupt deeds,” he said.

He pointed out massive scale of corruption in the execution of Pattiseema project. He alleged that the authorities bought only 24 pumps but took money for 30 pumps.

“The government spent more than Rs 60 crore only to dig the earth. The project cost has escalated from Rs 1100 crore to Rs 1600 crore because of corruption everywhere,” he said.

Veerraju said the TDP leaders were collecting Rs 20,000 for each home in the name of Janmabhoomi committees. They are collecting three months pension in advance even before the payment is made to the beneficiary, he said.

On granting SCS to AP he said, there need not be any doubts about BJP on this aspect, he said and added that Chandrababu Naidu who got used to corruption, was making Andhra Pradesh a scapegoat.
