Narasimhan On His Way Out?

The sudden departure of Governor ESL Narasimhan to New Delhi on Thursday evening following a call from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has triggered speculations in the media circles that he might be replaced soon.

Narasimhan, who is the joint Governor for both AP and Telangana States, is expected to be in the national capital for two days.

He is likely to meet the MHA Officials, including the Union Home Secretary besides Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. He is also likely to call on President Pranab Mukherjee.

According to speculations, the Centre might transfer Narasimhan to a new State and post Nazma Heptullah in his position.

Sources said the Centre was under pressure from the Telugu Desam Party, which has been alleging that Narasimhan is favouring the Telangana State and ignoring the AP interests. However, it is not known how the TDP would get benefitted from Nazma Heptulla.

According to another version, Narasimhan was called to finalize the draft on guidelines for implementation of Section 8 in Hyderabad.

The MHA and other Central leaders are expected to apprise themselves of the current situation in both the States in the wake of the “cash-for-vote” scandal and the phone-tapping accusations.

After ascertaining itself of the true picture prevailing in the two States, the Centre is likely to give necessary guidelines to the Governor to prevent the two States from taking a collision course. Thus the focus is on as to what road map the Centre would provide to the Governor to defuse the prevailing uncertainty in the two Telugu States.
