Nandyal: TDP eyeing Muslim, Vysya votes

With YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy kick-starting his election campaign in Nandyal with his aggressive speech on Thursday, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has plunged into action, moving his pawns quickly.

Naidu, who held a meeting of party coordination committee at his Vundavalli residence afer Jagan’s meeting at Nandyal to assess its impact, asked his party seniors to get into action and attract the neutral voters.

Naidu asked the leaders to specially focus on the vote bank of Muslim, Vysya and other castes for the by-election.

While the government has already initiated several measures to attract Muslim community, which has 70,000 voters in Nandyal, Naidu told the party leaders to lure as many minority leaders as possible into the TDP.

He already managed to lure prominent Muslim leader of Nandyal Mohd Imtiyaz into the TDP and hoped that it would fetch more Muslim votes to the TDP candidate.

And more importantly, he decided to scrap all the Janma Bhoomi committees in the constituencies since they turned out to be counter-productive.

The coordination committee has decided to send MLAs from various districts to Nandyal for elections campaign. Naidu also directed the leaders to go to door to door and ask votes.
