Nandyal: Pawan non-committal, Balayya to campaign?

Power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has turned out to be a big disappointment for Telugu Desam Party in the ongoing electioneering in Nandyal by-elections, but the latest news is that senior actor and TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna might step in to campaign for the party.

According to highly-placed sources, TDP leader and tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya contacted Pawan Kalyan over telephone and requested him to campaign for her cousin Bhuma Brahmanand Reddy, who is contesting on TDP ticket in Nandyal.

She requested that Pawan should at least express his support to the Bhuma family openly, so that it would send right signals to his fans.

However, it is learnt Pawan has told her he would “look into it,” but did not give any commitment.

He even did not respond positively when Akhila told him that she would personally meet him to request his support. Since the time is running short, it is unlikely that Pawan would come out so openly in support of the TDP.

The Jana Sena leader had already announced that he would enter politics in October, there are doubts if he would take up campaign on behalf of the TDP now.

However, the party sources said Naidu had asked his brother-in-law Nandamuri Balakrishna to enter the scene and campaign for the party at least in the urban areas for a day. Since he is also representing Hindupur of Rayalaseema, his campaign would definitely have some impact, the TDP local cadre felt.

Having acted in several films with Rayalaseema background, Balakrishna would be able to attract the young voters of Nandyal very much, sources said.
