Naidu's Start-Up Plan To Wind Up!

Naidu's Start-Up Plan To Wind Up!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has the habit of imitating whatever schemes other states take up and claiming them as his own brain-children by giving them a lot of hype and publicity through his favourite media. But more often than not, they end up as mere publicity stunts.

Take for example, the so-called Sunrise Start-Up Village started by Naidu amidst hype and hoopla at Rishikonda in Visakhapatnam in September 2014. Needless to say, it was the poor imitation of T-Hub launched by the Telangana government in Hyderabad.

Naidu declared then that the 17,000 square feet Start-Up village would soon buzz with activity with several companies making a beeline to start their units there providing employment to thousands of people. He also said it was going to be the biggest start-up incubation centre in the country in the next two years.

But after two years, the start-up village remained a non-starter. Only four or five companies started their units there and they are now forced to vacate the premises as the government had changed the rules for the start-ups. Now, the start-up village is all set to be wound up!
