If you are a celebrity or a top political leader, whatever you do or don't do will become a big news. That is what has happened with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
On Friday, Naidu took a holy dip in Krishna river at Durga ghat in Vijayawada, to formally inaugurate Krishna pushkarams.
Along with Naidu, his wife Bhuvaneshwari and son Lokesh Naidu also took the bath. Since he is the chief minister, the media focus was entirely on his poojas and holy dips.
But there are critics who always look for mistakes in what Naidu does. On keenly watching Naidu’s pushkara snanam, his detractors immediately started circulating news in the social media that he did not take the holy dip completely and he just dipped his face in the water and not the entire head.
Somebody also pointed out Lokesh walking towards the bathing ghat with footwear and that, too, has become big news for his critics.
This is a very silly matter. Everybody knows Naidu is allergic to flowers, dust and vermillion. Before he took the bath, the Sankaracharya poured sachets of turmeric and vermilion in water besides offering prayers with flowers. Naidu had no option but to take a dip in the same water. So, without getting affected by the dust and flowers, he formally took the dip and came out. He sprinkled water on his head to complete the bath.
If Naidu has done something wrong, he would pay the price for it. Why should it become a big news?
