Naidu Plays Sentiment Card To Woo NRIs!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is not losing any single opportunity to cash in on the developments in the state following his party’s withdrawal from the National Democratic Alliance, came out with yet another strategy on Wednesday.

Making yet another political statement in the assembly, Naidu sought to kick up the self-respect sentiment among the people and the Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

He called upon the Telugu Non-Resident Indians to come forward to raise funds for the construction of a world class capital city at Amaravati.

He announced that his government is contemplating floating capital bonds to raise funds for the construction of capital city at Amaravati.

“Even if the Centre does not give assistance to the state to build the capital, we will build the world class capital in Amaravati. We will raise (overseas) bonds to realise our dream. We shall pay higher interest rate than the banks,” Naidu said.

The chief minister said getting funds from the Centre was the right of the state, as the states contribute tax revenue to the Centre.

“Out of Rs 100 we give it to the Centre, we get back only 42 per cent. We are not begging the Centre to give funds nor is the Centre doing any charity. Our fight for our rights will continue on one side while we will go ahead with our development mission on the other”, asserted Naidu.
