Naidu Desperate To Gain People's Faith

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is desperate to regain whatever little credibility he had in the past, which he has lost completely after taking the U-turn on special category status to the state.

Apparently realising that his two-day Delhi trip did not make any impact on the people of the state who are not believing his explanation as to why his party came out of the NDA after a four-year honeymoon, the TDP president held a meeting with his senior cabinet colleagues at Amaravati on Thursday evening to discuss the strategies to regain the people’s faith.

As part of the strategy, Naidu decided that the party MPs make a last attempt to highlight the demands in Delhi by moving the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha on the last day of the budget session, which is most likely to get adjourned sine die. They would storm the Well the House with slogans.

Back home, the TDP MLAs and party functionaries would take out cycle rallies all over the state on Friday highlighting the demand for special category status. In Amaravati, Naidu himself would lead the cycle rally.

Subsequently, the TDP leaders would hold public meetings in every constituency one after the other to explain the Centre’s betrayal of the state and the demand for special category status.

Naidu also decided to take the wind out of the Opposition sails by calling for an all-party meeting on Saturday in the name of working out a common strategy to fight against the Centre.

He knows that the BJP, the YSR Congress party and Jana Sena would anyway abstain from the meeting, so that he could dub all the three parties as a gang of three conspiring against the state.

In spite of all this, one doubts how far Naidu would gain the confidence of the people in the coming days.
