Most communities backing YSRC in Nandyal

The YSR Congress party seems to have managed to win the support of majority communities in Nandyal assembly constituency, which is going to polls on August 23.

According to a latest survey in Nandyal, after the recent public meeting of YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, there is a major shift of communities from the TDP to the YSRC.

And Jagan, who began his marathon electioneering on Wednesday, is systematically going to retain hold on these communities.

Sources said, a large chunk of Muslim minorities have shifted to the YSRC, after Jagan promised that he would give the next MLC seat from Kurnool to the Muslims.

Though the TDP also nominated Md Farooq, former minister, as the MLC much earlier, the swing of Muslims is said to be towards the YSRC.

Similarly, Jagan has been able to have his sway over Arya Vysya community in Nandyal, after he promised to create a separate finance and welfare corporation for Vysyas if he is voted to power in 2019.

Though TDP has roped in Vysya leader T G Venkatesh to woo the community, the Vysya voters are said to be favouring the YSRC.

And Kapus, who have been in a state of dilemma all these days, are also said to be inclining towards the YSRC.

Though initially they were supporting the TDP, the severe repression on Kapu agitation taken up by Mudragada Padmanabham forced them to shift their loyalty towards YSRC.

However, the TDP leaders hope that if Pawan Kalyan comes out openly in support of the Bhuma family, there would be a split in the Kapu votes.

Same is the case with Madigas and Rajakas, who have been feeling totally neglected by the TDP government.

Notwithstanding the latest promises by the Naidu government, they are gradually moving towards the YSRC, says the survey.
