He is yet to prove himself as an able administrator of the nation, but one cannot gainsay Narendra Modi's ability as a master politician.
The ongoing Bihar polls have witnessed a tug of war between the BJP and the Grand Alliance comprising of Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar.
While the Grand Alliance seemed to be wresting the initiative, Modi has again come out with a master stroke. Once again, the tool employed is the Mussalman.
The Grand Alliance was talking of providing reservations to Muslims in order to counter the threat from the new entrant MIM and thereby consolidate its Muslim vote bank.
Modi was quick to seize in on the opportunity. By saying that reservations on religious lines would mean eating away into the reservations provided for SC’s, ST’s and OBC’s, he vowed to prevent such a thing from happening.
Now, all the communities enjoying reservation status are beginning to look upon Modi as their savior.
It has also helped to negate the ill-will generated by the remarks of RSS head, Mohan Bhagwat who called for a review of the existing reservations’ system in the country.
