Modi Guilty Of The Same Offense

Modi Guilty Of The Same Offense

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”- Edmund Burke

During his election campaign, one of the primary accusations of Narendra Modi against the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was, “He is a very honest person himself. But by remaining silent and turning a blind eye to the large scale loot of natural resources and massive corruption being indulged in by his colleagues in the cabinet, he is equally guilty of belying the expectations of the people of India who elected him to office.”

A finer statement could perhaps not have been made. But a year into office, Narendra Modi is ironically guilty of the very offense he had accused Manmohan Singh of.

His silence over the ‘Sushma Swaraj-Lalit Modi’ issue is uncalled for. Sushma Swaraj is clearly guilty here. Narendra Modi’s silence can be interpreted in two ways here: Either he acknowledges that Sushma is guilty or he just has no answer.
