The Bharatiya Janata Party has pooh-poohed the latest statement of Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come down on his knees and started appeasing the NDA partners and BJP veterans only because he was afraid of the aggressive stand taken by him (Naidu) in the recent past.
Naidu claimed the other day that Modi had realised the strength of the TDP after the recent debacle in the Karnataka assembly elections.
“He has started talking to veterans like Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi only because of the tremors created in the BJP because of my revolt,” he said.
Firebrand MLC of BJP Somu Veerraju ridiculed Naidu’s claims.
“He doesn’t have so much scene. He has absolutely no comparison with a tall leader like Modi, who was the obvious choice of the people of the country for the PM post,” Veerraju said.
He wondered why Naidu was joining hands with a corrupt party like the Congress which had done gross injustice to Andhra Pradesh.
“He is clearly heading towards the Congress party,” the BJP leader alleged.
On Nava Nirmana Deeksha taken up by Naidu, Veerraju said the government was wasting over Rs 50 crore in the name of deeksha, which had no purpose.
The entire government came to a standstill because of Naidu’s meaningless programmes, he alleged.
He said the BJP would stage a protest rally in Vijayawada on June 11 against Naidu’s vitriolic attack on the Centre and Narendra Modi.
