Mekapati Not Happy With Jagan's Quit Plan?

Senior leader and YSR Congress party MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy seems to be not very happy with the proposal of his party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for forcing the MPs to quit and contest the by-elections again on the plank of special category status.

Though Mekapati is saying openly that he would abide by Jagan’s decision and that special package was no alternative to the special category status to AP, he has also added a rider to it.

“We have to discuss in the party as to whether the resignation of MPs is a solution to achieve special category status to AP. If the Centre comes down with our resignations and grants the status, I don’t mind resigning,” he said.

Sources say Mekapati and many other MPs have expressed view that their resignation is no solution to the special category status.

“Even if we resign and win again, the Centre won’t give us special category status. Secondly, contesting the MP elections again is no easy task. It requires huge money and in the last two years, most of the YSRC MPs have become financially weak. Can Jagan bear the election expenditure of the MPs?” a YSRC leader is learnt to have questioned.
