Mandali is Dy Speaker of AP Assembly

Telugu Desam Party MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad representing Avanigadda in Krishna district will become the new deputy speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly. 

Buddha Prasad filed his nomination for the post. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed his name in the last minute, according to informed sources.

Naidu changed his previous idea to nominate Gollapalli Surya Rao for the post keeping caste and region equations in view. Prasad’s election will be unanimous and formal, it is learnt.

The Speaker issued a notification and fixed the deadline till 5 pm on Friday for nominations. Rao filed his nomination for the top post and there were no other nominations. The Speaker said his deputy will be elected unanimously on June 23.

While TDP leadership okayed Kalva Srinivasulu as Government Chief Whip, B Uma and K Ravi to be whips of the AP Government.
