Former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, who has virtually been in a political oblivion for the last three years, is back in the news. Indications are that he might stage a return to politics.
Lagadapati met Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday evening and held discussions with him for quite some time.
He was all praise for Naidu for constructing the Secretariat and Assembly buildings at Velagapaduri in a magnificent way in a short period.
Sources say Naidu has given him green signal to Lagadapati to join the TDP at an appropriate time. If he re-enters politics, he would definitely unseat Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani who is terribly upset with the TDP supremo after the recent fiasco over his transport business.
He announced his decision to wind up the transport business and did not listen to Naidu’s appeals at all. He is learnt to have decided to keep away from the party activities.
If Kesineni continues to revolt against the TDP leadership, then Naidu might rope in Lagadapati into the scene and create alternative leadership. If Kesineni continues in the TDP, then Naidu might consider him for the MLA seat, rather than the MP seat.
