Kodela Regularises Defectors!

Kodela Regularises Defectors!

Though it is not totally unexpected, the way Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao rejected the petition of YSR Congress party seeking disqualification of 13 defected MLAs has taken many by surprise.

Kodela on Saturday rejected the two separate petitions of the YSR Congress party on the ground that they were not in accordance with the legislative rules. “Technically, the petitions are not in correct format. Hence, I am rejecting them,” Kodela is learnt to have replied to the party.

The YSR Congress party gave two petitions – one seeking disqualification of 11 MLAs who had defected to the TDP and later another petition when two more MLAs shifted loyalties to the TDP.

The defected MLAs include: Bhuma Nagi Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya, S V Mohan Reddy, Adinarayan Reddy. Jaleel Khan, Sujaya Venkata Krishna Ranga Rao etc. Ironically, even after lodging the two petitions, another seven MLAs had defected from YSR Congress party into the TDP.

Now, with the Speaker rejecting the disqualification petitions, the YSR Congress party has no option but to approach the courts seeking remedy.
