KK elected to RS with just 26 votes!

Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and former Pradesh Congress Committee president K Kesava Rao was the most lucky candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections.

On Friday, Kesava Rao got elected to the Rajya Sabha though he had polled just 26 votes.

Apart from 17 votes of TRS MLAs, he got the votes of five rebel TDP MLAs and four CPI votes.

Despite personal request by TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao, four BJP and seven MIM legislators did not vote for Kesava Rao.

While BJP stayed away from polling, the MIM legislators voted for official Congress candidate M A Khan.

While TDP candidate Garikapati Mohana Rao managed to scrape through with 36 votes, all the other candidates including three from the Congress got more number of votes than required for election.

Things became easy for them with rebel candidate Adala Prabhakar Reddy withdrawing from contest.
