Former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh state N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has been in political oblivion for quite some time, is learnt to have started sending feelers once again to the Bharatiya Janata Party for quite some time that he would merge his Samaikyandhra Party with the saffron party.
Though the BJP leadership is favourable to admitting Kiran into the party, there is one hurdle and that is Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. Apparently, the BJP leadership does not want to embarrass Naidu at this stage, since the latter is not willing to break the alliance now despite provocations.
However, Kiran is of strong hope that the alliance between the TDP and the BJP would not last long. At the most, it may continue till next year; and by that time, he would be ready for leading the BJP in the 2019 battle in Andhra Pradesh, sources close to him said.
