KCR Warns Colleagues Against Corruption

By sacking tainted minister Tatikonda Rajaiah, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has sent a strong message to his cabinet colleagues that he would not tolerate any corruption in his government.

There were widespread allegations against Rajaiah even when he was an MLA in the past. He was allegedly collecting money even for issuing Tirumala Darshan tickets.

After becoming the Deputy Chief Minister, he allegedly indulged in various corrupt deals including in recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff under National Rural Health Mission; appointment of registrar for medical university etc. The swine flu epidemic has come as an excuse for KCR to sack him.

At the same time, KCR also reshuffled the portfolios of two ministers. He shifted K Jagadishwar from education department to power portfolio, while giving the health portfolio to Dr Lakshma Reddy, who was hitherto holding power portfolio.

There were allegations of massive corruption against Jagadishwar in the education department; that he was collecting money for granting permissions for colleges etc. The education portfolio has now gone to Kadiam.
