The Telangana Congress party has accused chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi of indirectly helping the Bharatiya Janata Party with the sole intention of preventing the Congress from coming to power in the state.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said neither KCR nor Owaisi had the capacity to defeat the BJP at the Centre. Since they were opposing the Congress, they were trying to help the BJP, he alleged.
He said KCR had supported all the decisions like demonitisation and GST taken by Modi Government.
Instead of supporting Babu Jagjivan Ram's daughter Meira Kumar in the President's election or backing Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Gopal Gandhi in Vice President's election, KCR supported BJP candidates.
Similarly, MIM contested elections all across the country and helped BJP win those polls by dividing secular votes, he said.
Reddy said only Congress party has the capability to defeat BJP and oust Prime Mininster Narendra Modi from power at the Centre.
He said that the BJP government had inculcated a sense of fear and insecurity among minorities, especially Muslims.
“People were targeted for what they eat, what they wear or whom they marry. Mob lynching to target innocent minorities was patronised by the BJP Government, while Sangh Parivar was raising small issues out of proportion. Only Congress Government at the Centre could put an end to such religious discrimination, he said.
The TPCC chief also slammed KCR for not fulfilling the promises of giving 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education.
He said KCR had promised to implement the 12% Muslim quota within four months after coming to power. However, even after four years, it remained unimplemented. KCR has now even stopped talking about it, he said.
