Kavitha to assembly, Harish to LS?

Kavitha to assembly, Harish to LS?

If the reports doing rounds in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi are to be believed, party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is said to be planning to field his daughter and Nizamabad MP Kalwakuntla Kavitha in the assembly elections in 2019.

At the same time, he is contemplating fielding his nephew and irrigation minister T Harish Rao for Lok Sabha elections from Medak.

And KCR himself might contest from Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency so as to play a bigger role in national politics.

Sources said the reason for sending Harish Rao to Lok Sabha is to see that he did not emerge as an alternative power centre to KCR’s son and IT minister K T Rama Rao, who is most likely to be the chief ministerial candidate after 2019.

Apparently, KCR got the intelligence reports that Harish Rao is feeling suffocated in the party and he might raise a banner of revolt before the elections. By sending him to LS, KCR wants to silence the rebellion.

At the same time, Kavitha is learnt to have requested her father to send her to the assembly, as there was nothing much for her to do in the Centre.

Since the chances of BJP coming to power again are bleak, she might not feel convenient in Delhi politics. Instead, she can become a minister in the TRS cabinet and sustain the party image in the state.

She told the media on Friday that she was willing to contest the assembly elections if given a chance.

She said that the party high command would take a decision regarding the matter, and she would abide by it.
