Kavitha Makes Her Presence Felt

Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP from Nizamabad K Kavitha made her presence felt in Lok Sabha on Tuesday when she raised a hue and cry over the introduction of Polavaram Bill by Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

She, along with her party MPs, strongly resisted when the Bill seeking amendments to AP Reorganisation Act to include Polavaram submergence mandals into Andhra Pradesh. She demanded that the Centre discuss thoroughly the Bill pertaining to Ordinance in Parliament.

Kavitha said the TRS MPs have given a motion to the Treasury benches on the issue. The ruling party could take further action only after eliciting opinion of the TRS and other parties from Telangana, she said.

“We will meet President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday night and urge him to do justice to seven mandals of Polavaram. We will then decide on an action plan”, she said.

Meanwhile, former MP S Rajaiah on Tuesday demanded that Telangana Government convene an all-party meeting on the issue of Polavaram Project. He said that the TRS government had failed to take up the issue of Polavaram Project with the Centre.

He said the State Government should not remain silent over the merger of seven mandals of Khammam districts with Seemandhra.
