Film critic Kathi Mahesh is the hot news in the film and media circles these days. Reason is simple.
He is targeting one of the powerful actors of Tollywood – Pawan Kalyan in social media and electronic media and in the process, has become subject to the most indecent counter-attack from Pawan’s fans.
Though the other film personalities of Tollywood have remained silent over this Kathi Mahesh-Pawan Kalyan’s fans spat initially, they, too, have started attacking Kathi Mahesh, as he started going a little overboard in his criticism.
Film writer-director Kona Venkat and actress Poonam Kaur made some sharp comments against Mahesh, albeit indirectly, forcing Mahesh to launch a counter-attack on them also.
Apparently realising that the entire film industry might turn against him sooner than later, Kathi Mahesh started using the Dalit card to defend himself. Referring to the call by Kona Venkat for his social boycott, the maverick film critic said being a Dalit, social boycott has not been new to him.
“I have witnessed several incidents of social outcast of Dalits. So, I am not surpvised with this call. I have also been outcast by the film industry,” he said.
“When fans of Pawan Kalyan have been making vulgar and obscene comments against me and even my mother and wife, should I keep quiet? What kind of actor and leader Pawan is when he cannot control his fans?” he asked.
