Kapu, Kamma, Reddy To Join YSRC!

It’s going to be a big bonanza for YSR Congress party this week, as three senior leaders belonging to three powerful caste groups are going to join the party.

Former minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader from Guntur Kanna Lakshminarayana is all set to call it quits to the party and join the YSR Congress party on April 25. He is learnt to have made up his mind after closeting with his followers on Sunday night.

Kanna, a strong Kapu leader, has been terribly upset with the BJP leadership deciding to ignore him and make a junior leader Somu Veerraju as the BJP Andhra unit chief.

Sources said Kanna who had already held talks with YSR Congress party leaders and got an assurance that he would be given party ticket for either Pedakurapadu or Guntur West assembly constituencies.

On the other hand, prominent Kamma leader Vasantha Krishna Prasad, son of and former home minister Vasantha Nageswara Rao, is all set to join the YSRC on April 27.

Krishna Prasad has been in consultation with the YSRCP leaders. He had contested on Congress ticket in 1999 and lost. Then in 2014, he joined the TDP, but was not given party ticket.

It is learnt Krishna Prasad has close business links with YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Sources say he could contest for the assembly from Mylavaram or for the Lok Sabha from Vijayawada.

The third leader to join the YSRC is a prominent Reddy from Kurnool. Former MLA and BJP leader Katasani Rambhupal Reddy will formally join the YSRC by next week-end. He is likely to be fielded from Nandyal Lok Sabha seat.
