It looks like YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy is focusing on the municipal and local body elections first so as to build up the tempo for the general elections to Lok Sabha and the AP assembly.
Party sources said if the YSR Congress party ignores local body polls and does not fare good, it would have a cascading effect on the general elections.
So, it is essential that his party should win maximum number of municipalities, MPTC and ZPTC seats. That would be an indicator to his party’s prospects in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
Jagan, his mother Vijayamma and sister Sharmila will tour all the municipalities of the State from mid-March as part of their campaign for local bodies elections.
While Jagan will start his tour from March 14 from Narsapur and conclude the same in Rajahmundry on March 17, Vijayamma will start her tour from Kadiri in Anantapur on March 16 and conclude the journey on March 23 in Kurnool.
Sharmila will start her yatra from Sulurpeta in Nellore district on March 17 and conclude the same in Markapuram on March 21, according to party sources.
