Jagan Makes A Passionate Speech, But...

Considering that it is YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s first time as the leader of opposition, it has to be said that he is doing a pretty good job for a first-timer.

During the debate regarding Governor’s speech, he listed out various past incidents and gave a lot of numbers which clearly showed that he did his homework well.

A special mention has to be made here about the issue of waiver of farm and DWACRA loans. Jagan made an effort to show that he was indeed sincere in his concern while hinting that his opponent and ruling party leader Chandra Babu lacked credibility.

He reminded the House that Chandra Babu had in the past written a letter to the Election Commission saying that waiver of loans for farmers and DWACRA women was possible. However, after being elected to power, the government was only coming up with excuses instead of keeping its promise, said Jagan.

YSRCP’s young leader should be credited for sticking to the points on his agenda instead of getting distracted by the provoking statements made by Chandra Babu Naidu and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.

While Chandra Babu directly attacked Jagan by saying that he was cheating the people of Andhra Pradesh by trying to mislead them, Yanamala used strong words like embezzlement and fraud while addressing Jagan. However, Jagan did manage to keep his cool and did not lose track of what he intended to say.

Usually, these kind of remarks are countered by witty and sarcastic comments, but Jagan refrained from showing off his oratory skills.

However, when Yanamala raised the issue of financial mismanagement by the erstwhile Congress government, Jagan spoke in support of the decade-long rule of Congress party and its financial policies, which raised quite a few eyebrows.

In all, it has to be said that Jagan did do a pretty good job. But if he had laced his speech with some witty and sarcastic comments, it would have been more impressive.
