Seeking a change in political leadership in Andhra Pradesh, a sea of youngsters are now campaigning on social media platforms for YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy as his ambassadors, and agents of change.
According to party sources, this army of more than 200 lieutenants handpicked from 13 districts across Andhra Pradesh are not only excited to meet with Jagan, but will also discuss issues concerning youth and seek his advice.
They would be trained in the sophisticated details of social media using the latest technology and tools. They will act as leaders who will further built their army in their respective regions and train the youth who are actively seeking to work voluntarily for Jagan's campaign.
In addition to YSRCPs efforts to build its own digital cadre, there are umpteen volunteer groups who are emerging to be a part of Jagan 's campaign driving the moto of bringing back the heydays of Andhra Pradesh.
Popularly called as digital army, it will discuss ideas on how they could participate and contribute to Jagan's social media campaign for AP assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
The digital volunteers will be a part of social events in their districts and also part of Jagan’s digital army.
Jagan has, at present more than 13 lakh followers whereas Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu trails behind with only 10 lakh followers.
Jagan has over seven lakh followers on twitter and for the past three months, the twitter engagement rate per tweet for Jagan's handle was higher than the handles of Rahul Gandhi and PM Narendra Modi.
"To facilitate a direct interaction with the leader, party has planned an interactive session with the social media volunteers. Party chief would interact with the volunteers and will address questions raised by the participants,” said party senior leader YV Subba Reddy.
The meet is planned at the padayatra campsite in Razole, East Godavari on Saturday.
